A memorial evening dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the outstanding scientists of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Azerbaijan State Agrarian University (ADAU) - Rustam Rustamov, Haji Guliyev and Aladdin Askerov was held.
The event, which began with the playing of the National Anthem, commemorated the dear memory of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs with a minute of silence.
The memorial evening discussed the scientific and pedagogical activities of the deceased scientists, and their scientific heritage and contributions to veterinary science were widely presented.
The event was attended by the University administration, Deputy Head of the Ganja City Executive Power Samad Tomuyev, Deputy Head of the Sabirabad District Executive Power Hasan Hasanov, Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Ganja Recep Oztop, Chairman of the Ganja Branch of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Fuad Aliyev, faculty and family members of the deceased scientists.
Video clips dedicated to the lives and activities of the scientists were shown at the event, and their graduates and students made speeches and shared their memories.
Speaking, the rector of the Azerbaijan State Agrarian University, Zafar Gurbanov, emphasized the services of prominent scientists in the development of Azerbaijani science. He said that such events play an important role in increasing the interest of the younger generation in science and presenting the life path of scientists as an example.
Then, the deputy head of the Ganja city executive power, Samad Tomuyev, spoke and highly appreciated the services of scientists who played a major role in the development of science and education in the region. He said that such events are not just an act of remembrance, but an important initiative that stimulates future generations.
Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Shalala Zeynalova noted in her speech that these scientists were examples of loyalty not only to science, but also to spirituality, humanity and the Motherland. Their graduates continue to live up to those values today.
Deputy Chairman of the Board of the "Organ Donation and Transplantation Coordination Center", Doctor of Philosophy in Medicine Azer Damirov, who joined the event via online connection, spoke about the common values standing at the intersection of veterinary and medical sciences, and emphasized the mission of scientists in protecting human and animal health.
One of the international participants of the event, a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and a neurosurgeon working in Saudi Arabia, Arif Asgarov, also joined the event online and noted the integration of Azerbaijani science with world science and the role played by scientists in this path.
